POSITION YOU ARE RUNNING FOR: I’m operating for re-election for Halton District College Board Oakville trustee, Wards 5 and seven.
PREVIOUS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: I’ve been a public college trustee since 2000
WHY HAVE YOU DECIDED TO RUN? I turned a trustee to make a distinction for all youngsters, together with my very own. It’s vital to make sure dad and mom have a voice and their considerations are addressed. I need to proceed making a distinction and ensuring the main focus is on ensuring all college students be taught to the perfect of their means.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE ISSUES: 1. Sufficient colleges for the Ward 7 group. 2. The HDSB is the lowest-funded college board within the province; the funding method must be checked out. 3. College students must have applications that can educate them life abilities; house economics and store have to be introduced again, or integrated into present applications.
IF ELECTED, WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FIRST 100 DAYS? I’ll provide help to new trustees. Proceed advocating to get colleges constructed for northeast Oakville, and proceed to improve older colleges. I need to re-energize a marketing campaign known as Repair the Funds to ask the province to take a look at the funding method.
HOW WILL YOU EMBRACE AND CHAMPION DIVERSITY IN THIS ROLE? As a member of the HDSB Human Rights and Fairness Committee I’ve participated in discussions on human rights and fairness initiatives that help scholar achievement and well-being. This studying has proven the worth to create and preserve protected, inclusive studying and dealing environments free from discrimination.
